hi! i’m double majoring in Media, Culture & Communications and Journalism. i’m not majoring in anything specifically fashion related, but hope to apply my majors to a fashion career such as writing for fashion magazines.
i don’t think NYU has a specific fashion merchandising program in any of the schools. but i do know there are fashion classes offered in both Tisch and Gallatin, so you could create your own program. for that, Gallatin is definitely your best bet. i know many people that are studying fashion in Gallatin and their classes are absolutely awesome and a dream for anyone interested in fashion (but impossible to get into!)
however, if you know fashion merchandising is what you want to do, other schools may be a better fit for you. Schools like LIM, FIT, FIDM and other more fashion/art schools will have better, more specific programs for what you’re looking for. if you are still not 100% what you want to do, NYU has a vast range of incredible programs you could try out and find you love even more. i came into NYU as just a media major and found i loved writing for the newspaper, so i added a journalism major (totally not what i had planned!)
